Dreams come and go...

I've always had this belief that a majority of small businesses don't go bankrupt or fail but the person behind the brand runs out of steam.  There is this stigma around small businesses closing as a failure or a waste of time.

Which begs the questions, what is success?

How do we quantify success?

When I watch interviews with some of the wealthiest people they often say family or the ability to spend time with their kids as the biggest form of success.  Then why do we (specifically as Americans) idolize this workaholic mentality.  Don't get me wrong I'm right there with you. But for what?

I set goals for myself to post on social media more. To be consistent with this blog. To do so many things that would help Roots be more successful but it's hard.  Small business is hard.  Life is hard.

I logged on tonight to make sure everything was ready for small business Saturday tomorrow and I am leaving with a to do list twice as long.  I don't know if I had a point but felt the urge to just write a little. So if you find yourself reading this, I encourage you to support that friend that might be up at 10:30 pm finishing up some tweaks to their website like me.  We all have friends who own businesses and it's easy to say we support them but I know we can all do better.

My challenge for you is to find that friend and support them in whatever way you can. Maybe it's being a client/customer or maybe it's being their biggest cheerleader on social media.  Or maybe its just sending them a note about how proud of them you are.
